Tournament Sanctioning
All clubs wishing to hold a state sanctioned tournament require a league sponsor. WMYSA is willing to sponsor any WMYSA club as long as they meet the following criteria:
Sanctioning Deadline: Tournament Sanctioning materials are due to the state by February 1st each year. Sanctioning requests/materials received after the deadline will be subject to nonrefundable late fees. Standard fees are $125 per tournament. Tournament requests that come in after the deadline are subject to a $500 fine.
MSYSA affiliated teams who participate in MSYSA sanctioned tournaments will also be provided secondary medical insurance. MSYSA strongly recommends that its sanctioned tournaments require non-MSYSA teams show proof of medical insurance. For US Youth Soccer affiliated teams, a Permission to Travel or Notification form approved by their home state association is usually sufficient.
Application Process: Go to the Tournament Center to register online. This will provide you with the sanctioning paperwork you will need to provide to both WMYSA and the State. You will need to include the definition of "Club" if you are allowing club passcarding. You will also need to provide the state with a copy of your tournament rules. The state has a useful checklist. It essentially includes:
- They are a member club associated with WMYSA
- They have paid invoices in a timely manner
- They are in good standing
- There are no other WMYSA sponsored tournaments on the same dates.
