To the best of our knowledge this is the 1st time WMYSA had to cancel an entire weekend due to weather.  Yesterday, many fields were unusable and an all day thunderstorm predicted.  For safety reasons this resulted in the cancelling of all games.  Rain has continued and is predicted to last until mid afternoon today. In fact, between 8pm last night and 8am this morning Kalamazoo had received an addition 2 inches bringing the total to approximately 6 inches in a 24 hour period.  With today's forecast being  more rain and wind gusts up to 45 mph and more than 70% of fields closed or unusable we canceled today's games as well.

Due to cancelling of October 14th & 15th games we will be moving the entire weekend of lost games back to November 4th and 5th.... It was either that or we switch from soccer match to swim meets............

WMYSA is excited to launch their new and improved website!  This is the third phase of our strategic communication plan where the goal of this project is to streamline information and make it easier for the end user: coaches, parents, players and club administrators.   We have also added a Home page content rotator which will highlight new information and once clicked will link you directly to that information.  On our News page  we hope to list division winners, provide feedback on our camps and clinics.   We will also post information provided by the clubs on what they are doing in the community.

Welcome to the Newest WMYSA Board Members

On Thursday, July 20th Juan Mendez was elected as Treasurer,  Carl Deering was elected as Secretary, Jayme Cox was elected as the Disciplinary Chair, Aaron Rogers was elected to the Clinic Coordinator and Steve DeVries was elected to the open At large position.   Holding a position on the WMYSA board is a serious time commitment on top of other activities these individuals already do for their clubs.   Thank you in advance for your leadership and dedication to the growth and development of the youth in our communities.

A special thanks goes out to both David Rice and Gil Urban.  David has served on the WMYSA Board since 2005 in various positions.  He recently stepped down from the clinic coordinator position in order to spend more time on new projects with the Portage Soccer Club where he has served as president for many, many years now.  Gil Urban also recently stepped down from WMYSA where he served as an Administrator reporting to the board.  He also began in 2005 with David as a board member.  He served as a volunteer until we expanded the administrator's responsibilities in 2008, when he switched from being a volunteer to an employee.  Both their experience and leadership will be missed.
