December 31, 2020
As we look back at 2020 it has been a crazy and challenging year for all. WMYSA went through multiple changes on the board all while having our spring season cancelled by COVID. We played week by week in the fall, making last minute schedule adjustments to keep our teams, players, parents, referees and volunteers safe. WMYSA celebrated the fall season with multiple teams reaching the state finals and begun working on a renewed relationship with our Referee Associations and Assignors.
Last week we lost a member to the board. Robert Kirby’s death left us all in shock and disbelief. Robert was a key member for WMYSA over the last four years, serving as our Communications Chair. His ability to look at items with open mind while respecting others was a trait that will be greatly missed.
Rob’s leaves behind his wife Amy, daughter Ashley and son Austin. Ashley and Austin have been part of the WMYSA family for many seasons. Our condolences and prayers go out to the family during this time.
In memory and celebration of what Rob brought to WMYSA and the soccer community, the board will make an announcement in coordination with the Kirby family soon.
WMYSA is wishing all a Happy New Year! stay safe and healthy during the off season and we look forward seeing our families on the pitch in 2021!
