Lindsay Tarpley returns home

You are invited to a special event to congratulate Lindsay Tarpley on winning her second Olympic gold medal as a member of the US. Women’s Soccer Team, and to listen to her speak and answer questions. The event is free and open to the public.

Community soccer organizations are encouraging you to come and show Lindsay how proud we are of her by bringing USA flags, and banners or signs, and by wearing your team jersey, and by making some noise when she arrives at 7:00. Wear your soccer jersey and look for a representative of your soccer league on the way in to receive an autographed picture of Tarpley (for youth only, and only if wearing your soccer jersey).

Also on your way in, pick up a blank card and write down any question you may have. The cards will be collected and Lindsay will answer as many as she can after some of her past soccer coaches say a few brief words about their experiences with her.

Where: Portage Central High School gymnasium

When: Thursday October 9 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Bring: posters, banners, American flags

Wear: soccer jersey (parents can wear them too)

Lindsay Tarpley is a 2002 graduate of Portage Central High School who went on to set records and win honors (and a national championship!) at the University of North Carolina. She won her first Olympic gold medal in 2004 and our community gave her a parade. Following her second gold medal, let’s give her a rousing welcome home and hear what she has to say. She currently lives in Hermosa Beach, California and will play next spring for the Chicago Red Stars in the new women’s professional league.
