TOP Soccer is an amazing program! It opens up the game of soccer to any boy or girl, who has a mental or physical disability. It started small, as a grassroots effort by parents with a wonderful vision. Then US Youth Soccer nurtured it. It goes right along with US Youth Soccer’s mission “to foster the physical, mental, and emotional growth and development of America’s youth through the sport of soccer at all levels.”

Why do we need TOP Soccer? So that every kid can know the rewards of playing on a team, of trying to score—of being in the game! It brings a sense of accomplishment and sheer joy to kids who otherwise would have to sit on the sidelines. Parents can’t praise it enough, the siblings enjoy helping and cheering, the kids’ laughter and enthusiasm are infectious—In this program, everyone comes away a winner.

The overall structure is WMYSA would offer support and assistance to any WMYSA club who is interested in organizing a Top Soccer program within their club.  WMYSA Top Soccer Administrator, Gil Urban, will assist with Administration and Top Soccer Program Orientation. WMYSA will also leverage MSYSA Top Soccer director, Dianna Dykstra. The WMYSA club would organize and offer a local Top Soccer club program made up of 4 or 5 training/play sessions per season.  When WMYSA has two or more Club Top Soccer programs then WMYSA would facilitate one combined Jamboree activity.

For the pilot, WMYSA is covering the registration and risk management cost,  SWM Kickers are covering the facility and player/volunteer buddy tee-shirt costs, and MSYSA will help with equipment start up costs. The cost will be free to the participating players.   SWM Kickers Top Soccer Director, Carrie Ogonowski, is targeting for 25 players, 25 buddies, and a few coaches.
