The WMYSA Scholarship Committee scrutinized several applications this year and were extremely pleased with the qualifications and community spirit of our young athletes.After much deliberation, on behalf of the WMYSA, the Scholarship Committee would like to congratulate Josie Herman and Nolan Hadder for being selected as the 2017 WMYSA College Scholarship award recipients.
Josie Herman is one of those athletes who not only excels on the field, but in the classroom as well. She attends Marshall High School where she played soccer and was Captain of her high school team. In addition to an outstanding academic record and time spent in athletics (Soccer and volleyball), she is very active in 4 H and the Future Farmers Associations. She is looking at attending Michigan State University in the Fall.
Nolan Hadder also has an incredible academic record and will be attending Calvin College in the Fall. He attends Mattawan High School where he captained his school soccer team his senior year. In addition to academic excellence, he spent his time actively involved in the community with Mission trips and the Future Stars Soccer program. His career objectives are listed as hardworking and intuitive high school student looking to play soccer at the collegiate level while maintaining good grades. Intends to give back to the community through volunteer work and by setting a strong example for others to follow.”
