West Michigan Youth Soccer Association

Based on current federal regulations, the state now provides consistent training to Adult Members who are in contact with amateur athletes who are minors. This training is mandatory for all adults who work with children involved in any and all WMYSA activities. It is being provided at no cost to MSYSA Adult Members through the U.S. Center for SafeSport. This online awareness/prevention training consists of three (3) training modules which include: Sexual Misconduct Awareness Education, Mandatory Reporting, and Emotional and Physical Misconduct..

Both the "SafeSport Trained" course and the Parent Training help you to recognize if an athlete is being abused. Most importantly, you will learn how to prevent this from happening or how to respond and help if the abuse has already happened. By taking this training, you are a part of our daily effort to make athlete well-being the centerpiece of our nation's sport programs. The SafeSport Trained course covers the following topics in-depth:

  • Mandatory Reporting
  • Sexual Misconduct Awareness Education
  • Emotional and Physical Misconduct

  • In order to complete your course registration, you will receive an email to confirm your email address. You must click the activation link in the email to activate your account.
  • Upon account login, users will be directed to the 'SafeSport Learning Dashboard' where users can begin the training modules.
  • In order to be considered 'SafeSport Trained' all three (3) training modules must be successfully completed.
  • Upon completion of the three (3) training modules, print out your 'SafeSport Trained' certificate and keep on file.
  • Once completed, the SafeSport Trained Certification is valid for one (1) year. A refresher course will be offered each year to maintain your SafeSport Trained Certification.
