WMYSA Board defines Tournament Sponsor Policy
The process for tournament approval includes an endorsement by the league for games played in our boundaries under the large umbrella of MSYSA and USYSA. Prior to 2006, WMYSA approved tournaments for the Portage Soccer Classic and the KISS Tournament run by TKO.
WMYSA does not charge any fees for reviewing and endorsing a tournament application. WMYSA receives no benefit from any tournament held within our geographical area.
Starting around 2007, Kingdom soccer began running tournaments under the approval of US Club Soccer, with a tournament over Labor Day weekend. Around the same time, TKO began running a second tournament in addition to KISS called the Fall Futbol Frenzy in August, promptly followed by a second tournament from Kingdom in early April 2008 prior to the WMYSA season, also under the approval of US Club Soccer.
In 2008 SoccerZone started a tournament that was for U12 & under division, which was heldover the Labor Day weekend. This tournament was not approved by WMYSA and was not sanctioned by MSYSA. In 2009, SoccerZone expanded their tournament to include full field games and requested WMYSA endorse their tournament to be covered under MSYSA/USYSA.
Since WMYSA was getting more and more request the board defined a policy for tournament sponsorship. The board felt WMYSA should place minimal restrictions to sponsorship for tournaments. The policy can be reviewed in detail by clicking on this Tournament Sponsorship policy link.
